It's a common belief across many cultures that ancestors die to become a star or “tara” to bejewel the sky. They shine upon us and light our path even on the darkest of nights. OneTara project under the flagship of DEVI Sansthan (Dignity Education Vision International) is an earnest effort to help all children learn foundational skills which will help guide them on their future path to education and employment. OneTara schools are powered by Accelerating Learning for All (ALfA). ALfA is a groundbreaking pedagogy, using paired learning and a known-to-unknown process to enable children to learn foundational skills in as little as 45 days.

We welcome children from 6- to 16-year-olds, who lack foundational skills. We welcome children of all backgrounds, but have a special focus on those who beg or conduct rag-picking. We endeavour to bring them up to Grade 3 or Grade 5 level, help them get a certificate through NIOS (National institute of Open School), giving them a chance to join mainstream school thereafter.
